About MAISY AI Energy Apps

MAISY Energy Apps provide a variety of utility customer energy use applications as low-cost software SaaS (software as service) apps.

Apps are designed to meet specific marketing, sales, customer analysis and market evaluation information needs, without requiring inhouse processing of the MAISY Utility Customer Databases by JA clients.

MAISY Energy Apps are provided as Widgets -- Web site popup windows that support sustanability scoring, energy cost and emissions benchmarking, energy technology/sales activities with utility customer data analytics.

Widget applications can be customized to meet specific client needs.

These AI-powered applications use just a few household/dwelling unit or business characteristics to estimate energy use and emissions for any dwelling unit/commercial business in the US. The apps also provide peer cost and emissions comparisons and present information on savings available with energy efficiency improvement targets.

The apps apply an AI k-nearest neighbor (KNN) analysis along with regression refinements where dwelling units or businesses from master databases are identified as belonging in the user’s “neighborhood” with a weighted distance measure that includes household/dwelling unit or business characteristics. Energy use and emissions from the nearest neighbors provide the basis for estimating the App user’s energy use and emissions. The master database includes energy use and emissions for more than 7 million households and businesses across the US. MAISY Database Background

Jackson Associates (JA) MAISY® (Market Analysis and Information System) Utility Customer Energy Use Databases were first published in 1995. JA-patented software (US Patent 5,894,311, Computer-Based Visual Data Evaluation) was used to provide a visual drill-down and data visualization process to explore detailed building, occupancy, equipment and energy use information on five thousand commercial customers throughout the US. Today MAISY databases include more than 7 million commercial and residential utility customers across the US and include hourly electric and natural gas energy use detail.

MAISY databases are recognized as the energy industry's most widely-used, comprehensive authoritative source of utility customer energy use information available.

MAISY database information has been used by utilities, energy service providers, energy service companies, equipment manufacturers, research organizations, regulators, government agencies and other energy-related organizations. MAISY data have also been used to support US Department of Energy appliance and equipment efficiency standards development. Click here to see a partial list of JA Clients and applications.

MAISY Databases reflect information from hundreds of different customer and market data sources including onsite customer surveys, utility and fuel supplier billing data, government, association and proprietary data, and other sources including ongoing Jackson Associates utility customer data development. Databases are continuously updated to reflect important recent trends in the most important determinants of residential, commercial and industrial energy use.

Large customer samples within geographic areas maintain the diversity of actual customer populations, providing a more accurate analysis of customers, markets and market segments compared to "average" customer information or engineering model-based results.

MAISY Energy Apps are a recent development designed to provide access to MAISY Utility Customer Energy Use and Hourly Loads Data beyond the "big data" applications previously required to process and evaluate analysis results of the database comprised of more than 63 billion data items.

Additional Energy Apps will be added periodically to extend the access of this unique data resource.
